Individuals with disabilities who have received training provide assistance to other individuals with disabilities. This support service can be one-on-one or in groups. The purpose is to identify barriers to independent living and how to overcome or eliminate those barriers. For example, any individual that has been in an accident and now must use a wheelchair may believe his life is over. Someone who uses a wheelchair and is living independently can help that person realize that life is not over, just different. Many people over the years have told us that this is the most valuable service we provide. it is a model that is effective in helping the people feel good about themselves and move them to being empowered to accomplish their dreams.
